The Storyline of Falling Down 1993
William “D-Fens” Foster (Michael Douglas) is attempting to visit his estranged ex-wife (Barbara Hershey) on the day of his daughter’s (Joey Singer) birthday. He had a breakdown and decides to walk after leaving his car in traffic congestion in Los Angeles. Along the way, he stops at a convenience store to get some change for a phone call, but the proprietor, Mister Lee (Michael Paul Chan), refuses.
This destabilizes William, who then smashes the business with a baseball bat and retreats to a remote location to drink a coke. When two thugs (Agustin Rodriguez and Eddie Frias) attack him, he responds by swinging his bat at them. D-FENS keeps walking till he comes to a halt in front of a phone booth. The criminals track him down and shoot at him, but their car crashes. William becomes irrational, and Shoot at him, but their car crashes.
William goes insane and steals their gym bag, complete with weapons, and embarks on a rage-filled odyssey against injustice. Meanwhile, Sergeant Martin Prendergast (Robert Duvall), who is on his last day of work before retiring, is investigating a string of crimes and believes that the same person is responsible, but the other detectives ignore him.
