Storyline!
Maddalena and Michele’s love story is set in 1960s Italy, working at a meat factory in Emilia during the workers’ protests. They fell in love, but their relationship faced major obstacles. Michele was married and Italy did not recognize divorce at the time. Four years later, Maddalena came to the United States with a special gift for Michele – mortadella, a type of processed pork salami. The meat was prohibited from entering the country. Maddalena showed her strength and determination by refusing to give up her gift, even though she was being held at JFK Airport. During her stay in America, Maddalena learned more about Michele’s true personality. , gained new insights into American culture.
