Salad Days 2014 DVD

Storyline!

“Salad Days: A Decade of Punk in Washington, DC (1980-90)” delves into the city’s early DIY punk movement. It was a decade in which influential bands such as Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Government Issue, Scream, Void, Faith, Rites of Spring, Marginal Man, Fugazi, and others issued their own records and booked their own performances without the restraints of large record labels or mainstream media attention. Contextually, it was a cultural milestone that predates the 1990s alternative music surge (and subsequent industry meltdown). Thirty years later, DC’s original DIY punk spirit stands as a reminder of youth’s optimism, the strength of community, and the power of conviction.
