The Hollywood Masterclass “Song of the South” 1946 American Live acton/Animated, Musical Drama Movie Based on Uncle Remus by Joel Chandler Harris. This film takes place in the Southern United States during the Reconstruction Era, Which was the period right after the Civil War.
With the numerous attempts, Walt Disney was able to Film Song of the South in Phoenix, Arizona and some of the scenes also filmed in Hollywood too.
Finally, Disney Releases this Masterpiece in 1946. But soon after the Original release Song of the South subjected to controversy. Some major critics were the portrayal of African-Americans as racist and offensive. Because of the controversy, Disney has canceled the Movie and not releases any of Home Video Format also not to be on their streaming platform Disney+.
However, Song of the South Movie has awards such as Academy Award for Best Original Song “The Song Zip-a-dee-doo-dah” and Baskett received Academy Honorary Award for his Actions as Uncle Remus.
