Cuckoo in a Dark Forest (Kukacka V Temnem Lese) 1985 DVD

Storyline!

A depiction of a Nazi officer who oversaw a concentration camp sheds light on the opposing facets of his character: on the one hand, a devoted father and husband; on the other, a cruel Nazi who carried out an unrestrained extermination strategy. It is he who adopts Emilka, a 13-year-old Czech girl who is to undergo “re-education.” Through her eyes, we witness the complicated creation of connections with a guy who tries to be kind to her. The young girl experiences a harrowing awakening to reality. She makes an effort not to lose sight of her true home while she is in Germany and has faith that she will eventually return and reunite with her mother.
