Storyline!
In outrageous 1977, An openly gay hairdresser Robin Turner. He despises his work. He adores classic films and will style his clients’ hair in the manner of a famous movie star if they permit him to do so—and even if they don’t. He is housing Liza Connors, a friend with schizophrenia who has been medically diagnosed but no longer tolerates being institutionalized, at his apartment. Robin starts to feel emancipated after Liza persuades her to dress up as Tallulah Bankhead and attend a drag ball. Robin agrees to work as a female impersonator at a local bar after further prodding from Liza, and unlike most drag queens, he will be singing. He makes amazing progress with his female impersonation work and decides to try his luck in New York City.
