Storyline!
Television drama directed by Lina Wertmüller, featuring Sophia Loren in the titular role. Set in late 19th-century Italy, the story follows Francesca, a woman from a family of pasta makers who marries Prince Giordano Montorsi for love. They have nine children, and Francesca, deeply passionate about her family’s pasta business, runs the factory with dedication.
When Francesca’s daughter, Nunziata, falls ill, Francesca vows to adopt an orphan if her daughter survives. True to her word, she adopts an eight-year-old girl named Nunziata. As Nunziata grows, she becomes Francesca’s confidante and the only one who shares her mother’s fervor for the pasta business
