The Storyline of And the Sea Will Tell
Two couples, one wealthy and married and the other an ex-con and his hippy girlfriend, set sail separately for a distant South Pacific island, expecting to play “Adam and Eve” in paradise. Instead of fleeing, they bring their pasts and biases, as well as the petty struggles over status and material things that develop from different socioeconomic strata, with them. Two couples come to Palmyra Island, but only one will survive the three months. For the couple who escape, one of them has the extraordinary good fortune to be defended in court by master attorney Vincent Bugliosi, Charles Manson’s prosecuting attorney and author of the classic best-selling book Helter Skelter.

Disc received has no issues whatsoever starting or during play in my standard VCR / DVD combo machine in the US. The final rendering quality of movie to DVD is outstanding. Film played in its entirety without any commercials…..how nice. Video recording was smooth & seamless throughout. Picture quality is equally done well. Audio level is clear, full & consistent. 2-part full length movie is delightfully captured on 1 single disc. Let’s not forget brilliant, full color cover artwork. “And The Sea Will Tell”__film is a captivating true story surrounding actual real events. Book of same title by gifted Vincent Bugliosi was published first which inspired film. Vincent B. was former criminal prosecutor who convicted Charles Manson. Richard Crenna is top notch portraying Vincent Bugliosi, who at the time no longer a prosecutor but practiced as criminal defense attorney. Richard Crenna is likely best remembered as Col. Troutman alongside Stallone in Rambo flicks. I first watched “And The Sea Will Tell” when it originally aired late afternoon on cable television, and presented by Lifetime network in 1991. “And The Sea Will Tell”__presented as made for tv movie which contained both part 1 + part 2. You had to wait to see part 2 at the very same viewing time on the very next day….as I best recall. Film here, is not a tv soap opera mini-series as was “Thorn Birds”. I have one other DVD copy of this film I purchased elsewhere some years ago, which is still safely packed in storage. Finished product of that earlier copy is not near as level of overall quality as I received here. Plus, that earlier copy contains 2 dics instead of only one as provided here. If you have never seen this film before, feel confident and by all means add this title to your DVD library without hesitation. Beautiful Rachel Ward, along with complete rest of the stellar cast will surely keep your attention & provide genuine viewing pleasure. Remember, 2-part film here was initially broadcasted on Lifetime television and in middle of the day….no overly explicit material. Memorable, must have, keeper flick.
